Tyler
Chase Smith
Visitation for
Tyler Chase Smith will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, February 20th
at Manes Funeral Home in Newport, Tenn. Funeral services will be held February
21st, 10 a.m. at Forrest Hill Methodist Church. He was found February
nineteenth, 2012 in the basement of his Murfreesburo home, allegedly murdered
by one of his fellow roleplayers from the local Dungeons and Dragons group
“Know Your Role.”
Mr. Smith was
found with an Ethernet cable tightly wound around his neck along with a
battleaxe in his back. The incident is presumed to have taken place the night
before in what witnesses called the most heated game of Dungeons and Dragons he
had ever seen. Mr. Smith was rushed by the assailant during his first time as
dungeon master following the untimely death of Horothgar the Elven barbarian.
Despite putting up a decent fight, it was clear that Mr. Smith had no idea his
assailant’s +2 great-axe was in fact not a replica.
Mr. Smith was born
on March 3rd, 1992. He resided in Newport, Tenn. and graduated from
Cosby High School in 2010. He then moved to Murfreesburo to attend MTSU under
the College of Mass Communications. . He is most well-known for his series of
horror novels entitled The New Haven
Chronicles, along with his collection of horror short stories Whispers:
A Collection. He had developed a taste for Dungeons and Dragons only
a month ago, ironically being informed on the tabletop roleplaying game by his
alleged murderer.
He is survived by
his beloved mother Brenda J. Smith, grandfather Charles Weaver Smith, aunt
Kimberly Q. Smith, grandmother Stephanie Banks, grandmother Betty Jo Smith, and
many other aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and begrudging fellow
roleplayers.
Mr. Smith loved
his family and friends dearly. He will always be remembered for his sense of
humor, his knack for fiction writing, and his love of all things nerdy. He will
truly be missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of
flowers, contributions in Mr. Smith’s memory are being accepted by “Know Your
Role” in the former basement of Mr. Smith on weekends. They are most likely to
be burned in effigy, so please actually send contributions to Forrest Hill
Methodist Church.
